Why is an energy label so important?

In addition to being legally required when selling or renting, the energy label plays an increasingly important role in a buyer’s or tenant’s decision. Homes with a favorable label are often sold more quickly and can even achieve a higher selling price. It shows that you as the owner have consciously invested in sustainability and comfort.

In addition, for many buyers and tenants it is also an indication of future costs. Because those who live energy-efficiently pay less for gas and electricity. And in times when sustainability is becoming more and more important, that is a serious plus.

Stricter requirements from 2030 onwards

From 2030, stricter requirements will apply to rental properties: homes that are rented out must then have at least energy label D in order to be eligible for rental. This means that homes with energy label E, F, or G will no longer qualify for rental after 2030. This measure is part of the efforts to improve the energy efficiency of the housing stock and to contribute to the climate objectives of the Netherlands.
